Synopsis

Nation rallies behind Indian Army after it repels Pakistan's drone attacks under Operation Sindoor, vowing that Islamabad "will never succeed."

The Indian Army’s swift and strong response to a series of drone and missile attacks by Pakistan along the western border on Thursday night has sparked a wave of public support and patriotic fervour across the country.

As tensions escalated on the intervening night of May 8-9, Pakistan’s armed forces launched coordinated attacks using drones and other munitions, alongside multiple ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the Indian Army confirmed that the threats were “effectively repulsed” under Operation Sindoor.

The attacks came just days after India carried out precise missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Despite the provocation, India responded with force and precision, reinforcing its commitment to national security.

Pakistani Drone and Missile Attacks Repelled

In its early Friday morning post on X, the Indian Army stated, “Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025. Pak troops also resorted to numerous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.”

The drone attacks were "effectively repulsed" and a "befitting reply" was given to the ceasefire violations, the Indian Army said.

“#IndianArmy remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded with force,” the post added.

The Ministry of Defence also issued a statement late Thursday, confirming that military stations at Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were among those targeted, but the threats were “swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities” and resulted in no casualties or material loss.

Border Residents Stand Firm, Voice Unwavering Support for Army

Across the country, citizens voiced strong support for the armed forces. From the border villages of Rajasthan to temples in Assam, the message was clear: India stands united behind its Army.

A local from Rajasthan said, “There is no need to be afraid due to yesterday's incident. The Indian air defence neutralised all the attacks. The people followed the guidelines for blackout... They (Pakistan) can try as much as they want, but they will never succeed... All the people here are supporting the Army.”

Another added, “India is precise and strong when it is about its security and safety. If needed, we common people will work alongside the Army.”

However, the human cost of the confrontation was also felt on the ground. A resident of a border village in Jammu and Kashmir shared, “After we closed our shop last night, shelling started. This morning I saw that my shop is completely damaged. This is like target killing of civilians.”

Meanwhile, in Guwahati, devotees gathered at the Kamakhya Temple offered prayers for the safety and strength of Indian soldiers. Jai Kumar Das, a devotee, said, “Give the army the power to finish off Pakistan completely. It is attacking India again and again. Pakistan cannot be trusted... We have complete faith in Modi ji... I pray to Maa Kamakhya to give power to the Indian Army. Don’t give us power. First, give it to those who are protecting us so that they can return home safely.”

Another devotee, Shantanu Roy, said, “We are really proud of the Indian army for their tremendous work. They should continue this till terrorism is completely eradicated. We salute them. Jai Hind!”

Shumita Roy, also present at the temple, prayed for those affected by the violence, saying, “We pray that Maa gives strength to the family of those who lost their loved ones in the (Pahalgam) attack... People who are still fighting to eradicate terrorism, may Maa give them the strength to conquer terrorism.”

With the nation on high alert, both the government and citizens have reaffirmed their unflinching support for the military. The resounding message remains one of resilience and unity: India will not back down, and Pakistan’s provocations will be met with unwavering resolve.
