Pooja Thakur, who led the Guard of Honour on Obama’s visit, sues IAF

Indian Air Force Wing Commander Pooja Thakur, who led the Guard of Honour on Obama’s visit last year, has moved the court on being denied permanent commission by the IAF.

In her petition, Thakur said that the IAF's decision to deny her permanent commission is "biassed, discriminatory, arbitrary and unreasonable."According to media reports, the Air Force has been asked to respond in three weeks.

 

Pooja Thakur, who belongs to the administrative branch, joined the Air Force in 2000 and became the first lady officer to lead the Inter-Service Guard of Honour, which was inspected by Obama last year. 

 

Her father is a retired Colonel from the Indian Army.
