The Group of Ministers (GoM) constituted to resolve the IT challenges in light of GST implementation have decided to give an option to tax payers to edit their GSTR 3B return. Interestingly, the Telangana State made this demand and the GoM accepted it immediately.
The editing facility of GSTR 3B will be helpful for traders since most of them are said to have filled up the return in a haste. The editing option will provide them an opportunity to correct their mistakes.
The first meeting, held by the GoM, was chaired by its chairman and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi. Apart from him, finance ministers from Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Telangana attended the meeting. Infosys employees who provided the software for the same, apart from Telangana Finance Minister E Rajender along with principal secretary (Commercial Taxes) Somesh Kumar also presided over the meeting.
In a bid to address the issues faced by taxpayers, the GoM sought the help of the IT department of Infosys and directed them to depute two engineers to each State for coordinating with the State officers for resolving IT issues faced by tax payers. It has also been emphasised that data pertaining to the Statem especially on returns and registrations have to be shared on a daily basis.
