Soon after the Olympic team arrived in Delhi yesterday and Gold medalist Neeraj Chopra received a rousing welcome, a petrol bunk owner has come with an offer to vehicles with the same name as Neeraj, free petrol.
The offer that is limited for two days has so far witnessed 30 people filling petrol worth Rs 501.
The petrol bunk owner Ayub Pathan from Baruch in Gujarat has come out of the free scheme at a time when the fuel price has gone above Rs 100.
While different governments and agencies and many brands have announced gifts to Neeraj, Pathan says that this is the least he can do from his end for Neeraj Chopra who brought laurels to the country. As countrymen are facing the financial issue and finding it difficult to fuel petrol, he decided to launch the scheme and every vehicle owner with the name 'Neeraj' is given free petrol provided they furnish the ID card, opined the bunk owner.
The news has now gone viral and Pathan is being lauded for giving free petrol to honour Olympian Neeraj Chopra at the same time for highlighting the rising fuel price.
Immediately after he won the Gold in Javelin Throw, the Haryana government offered Rs 6 crore and also Class I government job. Punjab state also was not behind as a Rs 2 crore reward was announced for having his family roots in Punjab.
Recognizing his efforts, the BCCI and IPL giants Chennai Super Kings announced RS 1 crore respectively.
Mahindra Group had announced that it will give its yet to be officially launched vehicle XUV700 as a gift to the Golden boy.
