"Kichhe Dewa was murdered last night by Maoists who held a jan adalat (kangaroo court) for not complying with their dictates at Kurrapad village under Polampalli police station limits," Sukma Additional Superintendent of Police, Santosh Singh told PTI.
Dewa's relatives reached Polampalli police station along with his body today and lodged a complaint, he said. The officer said naxals are believed to have picked up Dewa on Saturday and then beat him to death last night.
"The deceased was very much vocal against the dictates of Maoists and often refused to obey their orders. It appears that he incurred the wrath of the Maoists for the same," the ASP added.
Naxals also looted valuables from around five-six houses belonging to Dewa's relatives after killing him, he said. Security forces have been rushed to the spot to trace the assailants, Singh said.
