Rare gesture: Manipur Chief Minister shows Mirabai Chanu her new office

Synopsis

Manipur chief minister posted a video that showed Mirabai Chanu, who was appointed Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports) after she won the silver medal in weightlifting, being given a walkthrough of her new office.

In a special moment, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh personally accompanied Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Mirabai Chanu to her new office.

The chief minister posted a video that showed Mirabai Chanu, who was appointed Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports) after she won the silver medal in weightlifting, being given a walkthrough of her new office.

Giving a tour of the "newly-furnished office" along with Chief Minister Singh were his cabinet colleagues and MLAs of the ruling party.

The office-handover ceremony concluded with Mirabai Chanu showing her appointment letter and the Olympics medal that has now made her a household name across India.

Mirabai Chanu's parents were also present on the occasion.
