A video from Madhya Pradesh's Katni district shows the wife of an injured patient being made to clean a '108' ambulance. Administrative action was prompted by the video, which went viral on social media. Since then, the emergency medical technician (EMT) and the ambulance driver have been fired.
Rahul Barman, who was hurt in a car accident in Karela village, was taken to Katni District Hospital by a "108" ambulance. The vehicle was smeared with blood from the wounded patient, according to Raj Singh Thakur, the Katni Chief Medical and Health Officer, who investigated the incident. Pramila Barman, the patient's wife, was reportedly requested to clean the ambulance by Mohit Khatik, the on-duty EMT. After that, she was forced to wash the car.
According to Thakur, the act was improper and went against established decorum. The incident's video received a lot of attention. Ashish Tiwari, the district collector, ordered an investigation into the situation.
Both the pilot, Deva Sahu, and the EMT, Mohit Khatik, were fired by JAES Projects Pvt Ltd, the firm running the ambulance service, after the investigation. The move was taken, according to officials, to guarantee responsibility and stop such events.
