Kerala reports 16 new COVID-19 cases; 4 people travelled from Tamil Nadu, 2 from Mumbai

Synopsis

16 more positive cases were reported in Kerala on Friday. Five new cases are from Wayanad, four from Malappuram. Alappuzha and Kozhikode have two new cases each, while Kollam, Palakkad and Kasaragod have one each.   

Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that 16 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 576 and active cases to 80.

Five new cases are from Wayanad, four from Malappuram, two each from Alappuzha and Kozhikode and one each from Kollam, Palakkad and Kasaragod.

Seven patients who tested positive on Friday came from abroad. Four came from Tamil Nadu and two from Mumbai in Maharahstra. Three contracted the disease by contact with infected people within the state.

Virtual queue system for liquor sale in Kerala:
The Kerala government is all set to introduce a virtual queue system for liquor sale in the state to curb the spread of novel coronavirus.

Five companies have been shortlisted by the government for the virtual queue app. According to reports, the state government has decided to hand over the responsibilities of developing the app to startup companies.
