3.15 PM: Karuvannur bank scam: BJP to organise 'Padayatra' in Thrissur as mark of protest

The BJP will organise a padayatra on October 2 from Karuvannur Bank to Thrissur Cooperative Bank as a mark of protest against the CPM. Actor-politician Suresh Gopi will also participate in the padayatra. BJP Kerala Chief K. Surendran will inaugurate the Sahakari Samrakshan Yatra.


3:00 PM: Rain likely to continue for five days, IMD issues yellow alert in 2 districts

A new low pressure has formed in the Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move over North Odisha - South Jharkhand, moving in a West North-West direction for the next 2 days. Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Southwest Rajasthan. As a result of this, the Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of moderate/moderate rainfall in Kerala for the next five days. A yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram and Idukki districts today. Heavy rain is likely in isolated places. 


2.00 PM: ISL Match- Kochi Metro update

Kochi Metro is preparing additional services from JLN Stadium Metro Station as Indian Super League matches will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi from September 21. Kochi Metro has prepared 30 additional services on the first day of this ISL season. The service will be at seven-minute intervals. The last train service from JLN Stadium Metro Station to Aluva side and SN Junction will be at 11.30 pm. There will be a 50 percent discount on the ticket price from 10 pm onwards. Those coming to the metro to watch the match can buy tickets in advance for their return journey after the match.


12.30 PM: Arikomban spotted at densely populated tea estate in Tamil Nadu

The tusker "Arikomban," which was moved from Kerala's Chinnakanal to deep forests in Tamil Nadu, is now back close to a heavily populated tea farm in Tamil Nadu's Mancholil. After breaking into homes and ration stores in the Chinnakanal region to steal grains, the tusker had caused quite certain difficulties. The tusker was given the name "Arikomban" for its love of rice as in Malayalam, "Ari" stands for rice and "Komban" is the word for tusker.


11.45 AM: Fisherman injured after cooker explodes in fishing boat in Kannur

A fisherman suffered severe injuries after a cooker exploded in his fishing boat in Kannur on Tuesday. Hariyar, a native of Andhra Pradesh, was injured. The accident took place on the boat that came from Beypore in the Ezhimala area. He was admitted to AKG Hospital in Kannur.

A man identified as Mathew T. Alex killed his seven-year-old son and committed suicide in Pathanamthitta.


11.00 AM: Nipah virus: 49 more samples test negative, says Health Minister Veena George 

Health Minister Veena George on Tuesday informed that 49 more samples have tested negative for the Nipah virus. All the patients are stable in condition. Two symptomatic healthcare workers who were in contact with the last patient have been moved into isolation.


10.15 AM: Youths arrested for misbehaving with girls in Thiruvananthapuram

The police detained youths who misbehaved with the girls under the guise of a prank. The incident took place in Neyyatinkara. Mithun, a native of Annavur, and Kannan, a native of Paliyot, were arrested. They misbehaved with the girls at Neyyattinkara Convent Road. They were seen wearing a face covering and touching the schoolgirls without their consent. Locals lodged a complaint with the police along with the CCTV footage.


9.30 AM: Lion dies in Thiruvananthapuram zoo

A lion named Ayush died in Thiruvananthapuram Zoo. It was 21 years old and died due to age-related ailments.


8:45 AM: Decomposing body found at Makootam Perumbadi 

A decomposing body was found on the Makootam Perumbadi pass on the Thalassery-Kodagu interstate highway. The body was cut into four pieces and left in a box. The body was found 17 km away from Kootupuzha, on the Kerala border. The body is said to be that of a woman. The forest department and the police conducted an inspection on the basis of a complaint.


8:15 AM : Karuvannur bank fraud: MLA A C Moideen to not appear for interrogation today

CPM state committee member AC Moideen will not appear for questioning today (Sep 19) in connection with the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank investigation. AC Moideen informed ED that he would not be present today or tomorrow. The ED has been informed that the reason is to attend a class for legislators. ED will take a decision in this regard soon.


7.56 am: SEC announces last date to add names to voter list; Check 

The State Election Commission (SEC) has said that September 23 would be the last date to add names to the voter list. Those who have completed 18 years of age on or before January 1, 2023, are eligible to add their name to the voter list. Applications are being accepted through the commission's website www.sec.kerala.gov.in for additions, omissions and corrections in the voter list.
