Kerala News LIVE: Although the intensity of rain will be less than in previous days, heavy rain should be expected at isolated places. There is a yellow alert in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts tomorrow.

According to the latest update from the IMD, an orange alert has been issued in two districts including Kannur and Kasaragod. A yellow alert has been issued Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.

12.05 PM: Alappuzha reports rare case of amoebic brain illness

A 15-year-old native of Alappuzha was infected with the disease called primary amoebic meningoencephalitis, said a government release. The disease was earlier reported in the Alappuzha municipality area six years ago. 
 


10.00 AM: Life Mission Case: SC to examine bail plea of former principal secretary M Sivasankar on July 12

The Supreme Court will consider the bail plea of ​​former Principal Secretary M Sivashankar, who has been in jail for the past five months in the Life Mission scam case, on July 12. He has sought interim bail on grounds of ill health. Earlier, the Kerala High Court rejected his bail application on April 13. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on February 12 in connection with the Life Mission money laundering case.


8.38 AM: Four people found dead inside house in Malappuram in suspected case of suicide

A family of four was found dead inside their house in Malappuram. The deceased have been identified as Sabeesh, his wife Sheena, and children Harigovind (6) and Sreevardhan (3). It is suspected that after giving poison to the children, the parents hanged themselves. The Malappuram police have launched a probe into the incident. They were natives of Kozhikode and lived in a rented house in Malappuram. 
 


8.00 AM: Renowned artist KM Vasudevan Namboothiri passes away

KM Vasudevan Namboothiri (98), also known as Artist Namboothiri, passed away on Friday at 12.10 am. He was a well-known artist who masterfully captured the essence of Kerala and Malayalam culture via his unique artistic style. The Kottakal Aster MIMS hospital received his admission. His body will be on display for public tribute at his home in Naduvattom till 12 am, and thereafter at Lalithakala Akademi, Thrissur. At his ancestral home in Naduvattom, the cremation will take place on Friday at 5 pm.
 


8.00 AM: Holiday announced for educational institutions in five districts today

Five districts have declared holidays for their educational institutions due to the current conditions in Kerala. The holiday would also apply to professional colleges, according to the district collectors of Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
