The temperature in nine districts of Kerala is likely to soar on Thursday (Aug 23). Today and tomorrow, the temperature in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts may rise to 36 degrees which is 3-5 degrees higher than normal. In Alappuzha, Kottayam and Palakkad districts, the temperature may rise up to 35 degrees which is 3 - 5 times more than the normal temperature. Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts are likely to experience high temperatures of up to 34 degrees; 3-4 degrees more than normal temperatures. This is the first temperature warning this monsoon season.

Two children were taken into custody for laying stones on the railway track in Valapatanam. The police who were patrolling in the morning saw the children on the railway track. The parents of the children were directed to appear at the police station in the incident.
2.10 PM: Actress assault case: HC removes amicus curiae over links with actor Dileep
Two days after his appointment, the Kerala High Court on Wednesday dismissed the amicus curiae in the 2017 actress assault case. After the prosecution brought forward the fact that lawyer Renjith B. Marar had a close relationship with Malayalam actor Dileep, the eighth accused in the case, he was removed.
1.30 PM: Govt's nod to MLA PV Anvar to reopen children's park in Kakkadumpoyil
The children's park inside the controversial water theme park in Kakkadumpoyil has been given permission to reopen by the Kerala government to PV Anvar MLA. Earlier, Nilambur MLA requested permission from the LDF administration to reopen the park, which was shut down as a result of the landslides in 2018. The State Disaster Management Authority was tasked by the government to investigate a request made by Anvar. The authorities made the decision to permit the children's park to reopen in light of their results.

The Youth Congress leader and accused in the murder of Sujatha in Thuvvur was expelled from the primary membership of the organisation.
11.30 AM: Revenue dept sends notice to stop construction of CPM offices in Idukki
The revenue department has issued a notice to stop the CPM office construction work, which is being done in violation of the High Court order. The notice was issued by L R Tehsildar of Udumbanchola. The Kerala High Court on Tuesday ordered that the construction of the CPM's party offices in the hilly Idukki district must stop immediately. The court ordered the district collector to halt the construction of party offices in Udumbanchola, Bisonvalley, and Santhanpara. A special bench that was hearing cases of land encroachment in Munnar issued the order.
10.45 AM: ISRO VSSC exam cheating: Kerala police team off to Haryana for further probe
In connection with the case filed over the alleged occurrence of cheating during a recruitment test held by the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Kerala Police will head to Haryana on Wednesday. Poojapura SHO Deepak Chahar is in charge of the team.

9.15 AM: Two killed, several injured after bus overturns in Palakkad
The Kallada Travels bus which operates a long-distance service, lost control and overturned in Palakkad. The accident took place in front of the Agricultural Development Bank, Thiruvazhiyode. The bus was travelling from Chennai to Kozhikode. In the accident, two people reportedly lost their lives among the total of 38 passengers at the time of the accident. One of the deceased has been identified as Sainaba Beevi, a native of Edayathur, Malappuram.
8.45 AM: Money laundering case: KPCC Chief K Sudhakaran grilled for 9 hours by ED
The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday interrogated KPCC president K Sudhakaran in connection with the money laundering case involving fake antique dealer Monson Mavunkal. The Congress leader has been asked to appear for interrogation again on August 30.
8.40 AM: KSRTC to disburse salary to employees today including festival allowance
The salaries of KSRTC employees will be paid today for the month of July. The decision was made during yesterday's meeting between the KSRTC management and the trade union leaders. Along with the pay, there will also be an Onam allowance of Rs 2,750. The strike that was scheduled to begin on the 26th has now been called off by the labour unions as a result. Additionally, it has been decided to pay a festive salary of Rs 1,000 to each of SWIFT's contract and temporary workers.
8.28 AM: Karuvannur bank fraud case: ED concludes 22-hour raid at residence of CPI(M) MLA A C Moideen
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) concluded a 22-hour raid at the residence of former minister and Kunnamkulam CPI(M) MLA A C Moideen in the wee hours of Wednesday (Aug 23). The ED officials conducted the raid in connection with the Rs 200 crore bank fraud unearthed in Karuvannur Cooperative Bank in Thrissur. Meanwhile, raids were carried out at the homes of a gold dealer from Cherpp, Anil, and Satheesan (Vellapaya Satheesan), a native of Thrissur.
