4.35 PM: Dengue cases rise in Kerala; Health Department issues call for extreme caution

The state has been witnessing a surge in Dengue fever cases and therefore Health Minister Veena George has cautioned the people to take extreme care. She said that the current situation should not be taken lightly and fatalities need to be prevented. In addition to enhancing vector control initiatives, the minister asked for a greater emphasis on dry-day activities on the upcoming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Health professionals were urged to wear personal protective equipment, including masks. The minister also ordered prompt personnel appointments to open positions and cooperative efforts with local authorities.

Higher Education Minister R Bindu on Monday declared that the KEAM entrance examination will be conducted online from next year. KEAM entrance test is the qualifying examination for engineering, architecture and allied medical courses.

12.14 PM: Union Environment Ministry gives nod to Sabarimala International Airport project

With a panel from the Union Environment Ministry approving it for the award of Standard Terms of Reference (TOR) for airports, the Kerala government's proposal to build a Rs 3411 crore greenfield Sabarimala international airport in the Kottayam district has gained momentum. Around 2,570 acres of land in Erumeli, Kottayam District, also known as Cheruvally Estate, are proposed for the airport's construction.

9.55 AM: CM Pinarayi Vijayan returns after 12-day foreign trip

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday arrived back in Kerala after a 12-day foreign trip along with his team. The Chief Minister who left for abroad on June 8, visited the US, Cuba and Dubai. The Chief Minister arrived at Thiruvananthapuram airport at three o'clock in the morning.

8.54 AM: Stray dogs attack 8-year-old girl in Kannur; Sustains deep wound on legs, hand

An 8-year-old girl identified as Jhanvi was seriously injured in an attack by stray dogs in Kannur's Muzhapilangad. However, the child is out of danger. She suffered deep injuries on her legs and head. Further grave injuries were averted as parents came running after hearing the noise.

8.42 AM: One dead after explosion in steel factory in Palakkad

An explosion at a steel factory in Kanjikode of Palakkad claimed the life of a person in the wee hours of Tuesday. The deceased Aravindan (22) is a native of Pathanamthitta. The furnace in the Kairali Steel Factory exploded which also injured two migrant workers.
