Kerala cops fume over DGP's note to pay Rs 100 for Covid warrior award

Asianet Newsable has accessed a note to the state police shot off by the commandant of the Kerala Armed Police Battalion 3 who says that not a single policeman was willing to pay Rs 100 to buy the 'Covid Warrior Pin'.
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Director General of Police Lokanath Behera is in the line of fire over his controversial circular which recommended giving Covid-19 fighter medals to police personnel.
The August 17 circular stated that the officers of all ranks who had completed 30-day duty will be rewarded with a Covid warrior pin.
However, the circular also said that police personnel would have to pay Rs 100 to secure the 'Covid Warrior pin' as reward for their in Covid-19 duties.
The circular has been sparked off massive outrage.

Kerala recorded its highest single-day spike COVID-19 spike, with 11,755 fresh cases in over 24 hours. Raising concerns, the test positivity rate has gone up in the state and now stands at 17.74 per cent.
