Karnataka rains: IMD issues Yellow alert for Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru.

The city continued to witness heavy rains leaving many roads waterlogged throughout Tuesday night.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) reported that areas in western and southern Bengaluru received between 11 mm and 71.5 mm of rainfall.

According to the BBMP control room, the officials said they attended several complaints from Shivananda Circle, Mekhri Circle, Kengeri, Agara, Halasuru, Nayandahalli, and Agara among other areas.

On the other hand, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa is scheduled to take an aerial survey on Wednesday to assess the extent of damage caused by the heavy rains in North Karnataka.

The Chief Minister will do an aerial survey of rain hit districts like Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Vijayapura that have left hundreds of villages inundated.

According to the Central water commission, the Bhima river has been in spate since October 14 due to torrential rain in Maharashtra and release of water from the dams there.
