Bengaluru: In the latest update from Karnataka, district judiciary, family courts, labour courts and industrial tribunals in Karnataka will remain closed till June 6, 2020.

Karnataka became the 12th state in the country to cross the grim 1,000-mark on Friday with the state reporting its single-day highest of 69 cases.

However, lockdown 4.0 may see further opening up of economic activity, particularly public transport, sports and fitness centres in the state.

Meanwhile, only up to 50 guests will be permitted at weddings and it will be mandatory for everyone to wear a mask and undergo thermal screening at the venue, which should not be air-conditioned, the health department said in a new advisory.

Guests and visitors at weddings and events have been restricted to 50 in Karnataka as part of partial easing of lockdown, an official said on Friday. "The marriage event shall allow a maximum number of guests of not more than 50," ordered state health and family welfare services commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey in his advisory.

Panchayat minister KS Eshwarappa said that gram panchayat elections in the state will be postponed by six months due to COVID-19 pandemic.

"We have 6,012 Gram Panchayats in the state. Except few, all Gram Panchayats' term will end by June-July. Due to COVID-19, we will not conduct elections and postpone them for six months," the panchayat minister, KS Eshwarappa, said at a press conference on Friday evening.
