Bengaluru: 15 constituencies in Karnataka are going for by-polls today (December 5). Voting began at 7 am. BJP and Congress have fielded candidates in all constituencies, whereas JD(S) candidates are contesting in 12 constituencies. BSP candidates are contesting in two and NCP in one constituency.

The elections are necessitated as 17 MLAs were disqualified for rebelling against Congress and JD(S). Out of 17 constituencies, elections are held for 15 constituencies. Elections in Maski and Rajarajeshwari Nagar are withheld due to litigation in the Karnataka High Court over their results in the May 2018 state assembly elections.

BJP has fielded 13 disqualified MLAs (10 from Congress and 3 from JD(S)) apart from two candidates from the party.

At 3 pm, voting percentage in 15 constituencies of Karnataka is recorded at 46.62.
