Watch: Jet Airways Mumbai-bound flight spins off Goa airport runway

The Jet Airways carrying 161 people on board escaped a near fatal accident All passengers were evacuated after the flight veered off the runway at Goa’s Dabolim airport

Jet Airways in a statement earlier on in the day announced that its flight 9W 2374, from Goa- Mumbai with 154 guests and 7 crew veered off the Dabolim runway while aligning for takeoff. Few guests have sustained injuries during the evacuation process.

Emergency slides were used to evacuate the passengers. Some of the passengers were irritated and angered by the threat to their lives. In the panic to rush off the aircraft some of them jumped off and landed in a ditch and were hurt. Others have complained of the domestic carrier's negligence in taking care of the situation.

Following that chaos broke out. Twitterati even sought to make a joke out of it with several attributing the event to wish superstar Salman Khan on his birthday, while others resorted to suggesting that probably the pilot had rung in the New Year celebrations early and so could not toe the line.

Meanwhile,  Aviation Expert Wing Commander Praful Bakshi(Retired), speaking to a Times Now has remarked that the incident could happen only if the plane was cruising at a higher speed than required and that the DGCA should look into it.
