IYC to intensify stir against CEC if suppressed, says Uday Bhanu Chib

IYC Vows to Intensify Protests

Indian Youth Congress (IYC) President Uday Bhanu Chib on Tuesday said the party workers would intensify their struggle if they were "suppressed" after a protest was held at Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar's ancestral residence in Uttar Pradesh's Agra, asserting that such demonstrations would continue across the country.

Speaking to ANI, Chib said the protest conducted by Youth Congress workers Anil Yadav and Mukesh was a "peaceful protest" and was held over alleged concerns related to people's constitutional right to vote. "Anil Yadav ji and Mukesh ji conducted a peaceful protest yesterday. The protest was held because Gyanesh Kumar has taken away the constitutional right of 13 crore people to vote. There can be no bigger betrayal against the country and the Constitution than this," Chib said.

He further alleged that the BJP government and the Uttar Pradesh government were trying to suppress party workers by using police action and filing cases. "UP Chief Minister and the BJP government are trying to suppress our people, instilling fear of police and imposing false sections in FIRs. This will not stop at anything," he said.

Gujarat Congress Stages Protest in Ahmedabad

Earlier, Gujarat Congress leaders and workers on Tuesday staged a protest in Ahmedabad, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of electoral manipulation and deletion of names from voter rolls. Addressing the protest, Gujarat Congress President Amit Chavda alleged that the voting rights of citizens across the country were being "stolen" and accused the government of reducing the Election Commission to a "puppet". "This public outrage stems from the fact that the voting rights of Indians across the country are being stolen. The government has reduced the Election Commission to a mere puppet, using Gyanesh Kumar as a tool to win elections nationwide," Chavda said.

Row Over Investigative Report

The political row intensified following an investigative report by The Indian Express, which said Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had raised objections at least 14 times over 10 months regarding decisions and procedures linked to the SIR exercise.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has rejected the suggestion that the reported objections represented institutional dissent, maintaining that decisions related to SIR were taken with the unanimous approval of the Commission. (ANI)
