Internet services restored in Kashmir Valley

Synopsis

Mobile internet services were restored today in parts of Kashmir Valley. Services were suspended last week following clashes between locals and security forces after stories of a minor girl molested by an army personnel had surfaced in Handwara town, north of Kashmir.

The girl, however, told the chief judicial magistrate, Handwara that she was not molested by the personnel, according to a report on Indian Express.

Mobile internet services were suspended since 13 April to curb any kind of rumours spreading which might affect the law and order situation.

According to a report in the Greater Kashmir, curfew-like restrictions were relaxed in Srinagar on 17 April but remained in place in Kupwara for the fifth day.

Five people were killed in Kupawara district following series of protests since the alleged molestation had surfaced.
