India ranked 105 in Global Human Capital Index

India may have made rapid strides in economic development. However, our Human Capital Index is reportedly lower than our neighbours like Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh

The index marks a nation’s capacity to develop and deploy talent for sustained economic growth. The forum also conducted a survey about Human capital deployment.

While China is in slot 71, Pakistan is relegated to 118. India occupied the 100th position during the year 2015 and 124 countries were involved in the survey. 

In spite of the nation's major progress in the educational and academic sector, the literacy rate among the youth is still around 90%, which is said to be behind the other leading nations in emerging markets.

India is also said to have fared poorly in factors like participation of labour forces, owing to gender discrimination which hampers the participation of women.

On a positive note, India ranked 39th in the quality education system, India's training of human resources was given the 46th position and recognition of staff’s intelligence is ranked 45th in India.

With an 85% utilisation of human resources, Finland, Norway and Switzerland were awarded the first three positions respectively. 

Among the BRICS nations, Russia got 28th, China 71st, Brazil 83rd and South Africa 88th position.
