Synopsis

This year 3300 institutes of higher education voluntarily chose to participate in the ranking system IISc Bangalore has ranked number one this year as well.  

 

Among universities, IISc Bangalore has ranked number one this year as well. In 2016, IISC was the number one University followed by  Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Hyderabad University.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework or NISF was approved by Minister of Human Resource Development  and launched two years ago.This framework has devised certain parameters through which it comes to a conclusion about the top universities in the country. This framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology draws from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions.

 

The parameters broadly cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.
