From Viral Racism Plea To A Heartwarming Update

The latest video comes days after Gongo’s earlier clip sparked widespread discussion about racism and stereotyping faced by people from Northeast India. In the original video, the little girl from Itanagar was asked whether she was Chinese. Her response was firm: “Humko Indian bolo (Call us Indian),” she said.

She went on to explain that being called Chinese because of her appearance made her angry and sad. Her innocent yet confident response resonated with thousands of viewers, who praised her for speaking up against casual racial stereotyping.

Internet Rallying Behind Arunachal’s Little Girl

Following the viral video, Gongo received an overwhelming response from across the internet. Her Instagram following has since crossed 82,000, according to India Today. The attention also turned her earlier moment of frustration into a broader conversation about identity, belonging and the way people from the Northeast are perceived.

Her latest message, however, carries a completely different tone. Instead of confronting an upsetting question, Gongo is seen smiling and expressing gratitude to those who stood behind her.

‘India’s Baby’ Wins Hearts Online

Her mother’s affectionate comment that people are now calling her “India’s baby” adds another heartwarming layer to the viral story. Gongo’s “Hum India hogaye” message has since given the episode a positive turn, showing how a difficult experience was followed by an outpouring of support.

The little girl’s journey from saying “Humko Indian bolo” to thanking people for their love has struck a chord online. Her story has also renewed conversations about the importance of recognising India’s diversity and rejecting assumptions based solely on physical appearance.

What began with a child objecting to being misidentified has now become a much happier story of support, pride and belonging.
