Synopsis

Heavy rainfall in Dausa district, Rajasthan, has caused widespread waterlogging, disrupting daily life and flooding a vegetable market. While exposing poor drainage, the rain brought relief from heat and is considered beneficial for standing crops.

A spell of rain has once again begun in Dausa district, starting Monday night. Heavy rainfall continued across Dausa city and surrounding areas from Tuesday morning onwards.

Rain Causes Widespread Waterlogging

Continuous rainfall led to waterlogging on service lanes along the highway, while several residential colonies and major roads also witnessed water accumulation.

The rain also exposed the inadequacies of the Municipal Council's drainage system. Drains overflowed, and water began flowing onto the roads in many places. Residents faced difficulties due to waterlogging in local colonies.

Vegetable Market Flooded

Meanwhile, the city's Adarsh vegetable market was also flooded; vegetables were seen floating in the water, causing traders to worry about potential losses.

Mixed Reactions: Relief for Some, Woes for Others

However, the rain has brought significant relief from the humid heat, making the weather pleasant as temperatures dropped. On the other hand, farmers are delighted with the good rainfall. This rain is considered highly beneficial for standing crops in the fields. Farmers state that this timely rainfall will revitalise their crops.

Administration Issues Advisory

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours. The district administration has issued an advisory regarding the rain, urging people to exercise caution. Children and the elderly have been advised to avoid areas prone to waterlogging. The administration has also asked the public to remain particularly vigilant in low-lying areas and locations with strong water currents.
