Gurugram schoolboy murder: Conductor had a murky past, was fired 8 months ago from another school

Synopsis

A Class 2 student of Ryan International School was sodomised, killed in the school’s toilet Bus conductor Ashok Kumar admitted to having done the crime Now police investigation has revealed even more murkier details about the man

Police have often warned parents and school authorities to check the people they employ for taking care of children. In the Ryan International School case too, there were lapses on the part of the school. The acting principal of the school, Neerja Mohan, has already been suspended and the boy’s parents have demanded action against the school management as well.

Coming back to the incident. The police were able to round up on who committed the chilling murder of a small school boy in  the toilet. When the body of the 7-year-old was found, his throat was slit and he was heavily bleeding. He died before he could reach the hospital.

Ashok Kumar, a bus conductor confessed to the crime. Investigation into the  42-year-old man’s past revealed murky details. According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Ashok Kumar was a driver with a private school in Ghamroj, near Gurugram. His job did not last long because he was fired after students complained about how he made them uncomfortable and about his misdemeanours. The school did not file a complaint with the police. He was fired eight months ago for his sexual predatory nature.

Recounting and investigation further came up with three witnesses to the incident. Three boys had entered the boys toilet to change clothes for their next class. The victim was the fourth boy to walk in. The boys say they saw Ashok in the corridor and did not give him a thought, considering him to be one of the school’s staff or the gardener. He waited for the trio to leave and that’s when the victim came in.

The police even mentioned having strong circumstantial evidence and CCTV footage to nail the murderer. The police have added charges under the Pocso Act, which deals with sexual assault on children, in the FIR against Kumar.

Meanwhile, the father of Ashok Kumar says his son is being framed and maintains that he is innocent.
