Post the Goods and Sevices tax rollout, 22 states including Delhi and West Bengal have abolished checkposts to help a smoother flow of goods in the country.

Eight states are on the verge of scrapping the checkposts, which will come as a huge relief for trucks that queue up for hoyrs for checking of papers and materials thereby adding to the overall costs.

Jammu and Kashmir, that has not rolled out GST, will hold an assembly session on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, to consider approving the legislation.

The LDF government in Kerala endorsed GST and the fact that there has been no inflationary impact of the new tax. It issued a statement in Thiruvananthapuram saying prices of more than 100 products have been brought down under GST, as reported by the Times of India.

Cabinet secretary P K Sinha reviewed the post-GST situation with the secretaries and senior officials of different ministries and departments. He has urged the secretaries to address any GST-related issue with businesses and industries.

Sinha has also asked the secretaries to ensure there is enough consumer goods in the market to maintain price stability. The secretaries will also run campaigns to educate consumers about GST.

The Centre has also made an appeal to not circulate false messages about GST being biased towards any particular religion.

"There are some messages going around in social media stating that the temple trusts have to pay the GST while the churches and mosques are exempt. This is completely untrue," a finance ministry statement said according to TOI.
