First Lady Savita Kovind sets example, makes face masks in Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi: Wife of President Ram Nath Kovind, First Lady Savita Kovind, stitched masks at Shakti Haat in the President's Estate as the country continues to fight coronavirus on Wednesday. The First Lady was seen covering her face with a red cloth while she was stitching the masks.

According to reports, the masks made by the First Lady would be distributed at various shelter homes of Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board.

Last month, President Ram Nath Kovind donated one month’s salary of his to the PM CARES Fund, to fight against novel coronavirus crisis. Prime Minister Modi thanked the President and said, “Thank you, Honourable President. Rashtrapati Ji is leading the way and inspiring the nation.”

Meanwhile, Mumbai is the first city in India to make masks compulsory.

So far, in India, about 21,400 have tested positive for coronavirus, according to latest figures from Ministry of Health, while 681 people have died so far.

Maharashtra continues to remain the worst affected state. The other states that have seen the highest number of cases include Gujarat, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
