Synopsis

The fire originated in the quality control department's office, leading to burn injuries for nearly all employees present at the time. Following the incident, the BBMP commissioner promptly arrived at the scene.

A massive fire erupted within the premises of the Greater Bangalore Municipal Corporation's headquarters, resulting in over 10 individuals sustaining burn injuries. The fire originated in the quality control department's office, leading to burn injuries for nearly all employees present at the time. The injured personnel have been admitted to the hospital, with their transportation facilitated via a police vehicle. Among those injured was Chief Engineer Shivakumar. Despite the fire brigade office's close proximity, it took them thirty minutes to reach the location.

The fire erupted sometime between 5 pm and 5:30 pm while conducting benzene testing in the quality control laboratory of the BBMP. Among those affected, all but one belong to the quality control division of BBMP.

The individuals involved have been identified as Shivakumar, the Chief Engineer; Santhosh Kumar, an Executive Engineer; Kiran, Siraj, Manoj, Sridhar, Vijayamala, Jyothi, and Srinivas.

Jayaram Raipura, the BBMP Special Commissioner (Finance), assured that no official documents were compromised in the fire incident, as the records room remained unaffected.

Tushar Girinath, the Chief Commissioner of BBMP, informed that the affected individuals have been immediately taken to St. Martha's Hospital for urgent medical attention. Subsequently, they will be transferred to the burns ward of Victoria Hospital for further treatment.
