New Delhi: An FIR has been registered against Congress leader Alka Lamba for her indecent remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath at Lucknow’s Hazratganj police station.
Preeti Verma, member of the Uttar Pradesh Child Protection Commission registered a complaint against Lamba. The FIR against Lamba has been lodged under sections 504, 505(1)(b) and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The complaint was registered after Lamba posted a video on social media using objectionable words against PM Modi and CM Yogi in terms of performing their duties. Citing Unnao Rape case in which former MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was involved, she termed ‘Beti Bachao’ campaign a “flop show”, alleging that the government has failed to protect daughters of India and provide justice to the victims.
In 2014, Alka Lamba quit the Congress to be a part of Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), but returned to the Congress after five years.
