An employee has triggered a massive online debate after revealing an unusual workplace rule introduced by her manager regarding sick leave, leaving social media users wondering how anyone is supposed to predict getting ill in advance.

Instagram user Deblina shared the now-viral video recounting how she had taken a two-day sick leave after falling unwell, only to return to work and discover that her manager had rolled out a bizarre new policy requiring employees to inform the team about sick leave the previous night.

In the video, Deblina appeared visibly stunned while narrating the incident. “I was not feeling well, so I asked my manager for a two-day sick leave. After coming back, I found out that my manager had made a new rule, that even if someone takes sick leave, they need to be informed the night before,” she said.

She sarcastically questioned whether managers had forgotten how illnesses actually work. “Are managers logic less? How do you think this works? Do we get some kind of notification that tells us we're about to get sick?” she joked.

“If I could predict my life that easily, don't you think I would've made a fortune working in IPL by now?” she quipped.

The video has the caption, “Apparently fever also needs prior approval now,” perfectly capturing the growing frustration many employees feel over rigid and unrealistic workplace policies.

Soon after the clip went viral, the comments section exploded with jokes, sarcasm and shared workplace horror stories.
