Donate Rs 50,000 and travel in trains instead of flights, Congress urges its leaders due to financial crunch

Synopsis

Hit with a severe financial crunch, Congress asked its leaders like MPs, general secretaries, and other top functionaries to donate Rs 50,000 annually. And also, in its austerity drive, the party has asked leaders to find a cheaper mode of transport while traveling for party meetings and cut the budget for party secretaries and general secretaries.

As the grand old party, Congress is facing a severe financial crisis, it has begun an austerity drive. The party has ordered its MP's and state and national level secretaries to donate 50,000 annually.

This apart the party has asked its leaders who have a scheduled meeting at nearby places to either travel by train or take a flight that costs less.

Secretaries who have to travel 1,400 kms for the meeting will be given train tickets instead of flight tickets henceforth and in case the travel destination extends beyond 1,400 kms, then the tickets costing cheaper will be booked for flight travel.
