Disheartening: Rape videos sold in Uttar Pradesh

This dark trade is being conducted under the nose of the police in some shops in Uttar Pradesh. According to a report in the Times of India, thousands of copies of such videos are being sold every day.

The rate of the videos is fixed according to the duration of the videos, which are anywhere between 30 seconds to 5 minutes.

Select dealers are said to be selling the videos in secret. They only reveal themselves to those who come with a trusted reference. However, the seller’s identity is never revealed, reports indicate.

As for the source of these videos, a senior police official said that most rapists film the horrific attack with the intention of blackmailing the victim or for further sexual assaults.

The videos also stop victims from going to the police and filing a complaint.

Shops at Kasganj Market in Agra, Tajganj and Sadar areas are reportedly selling these videos. In the past, some shopkeepers from these areas were arrested in this regard, said the police officer.
