Synopsis

Delhi approves an initial ₹50 crore for the GO-DELHI Foundation to strengthen the startup ecosystem, support over 21,000 startups and improve access to funding, mentorship and innovation facilities.

Delhi is now moving ahead with a new initiative that will further boost its startup ecosystem as the state cabinet approves an allocation of ₹50 crore for setting up the GO-DELHI Foundation. With this decision being taken under the guidance of Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the plan is to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and new business opportunities. This decision is likely to benefit over 21,000 startups in Delhi through better access to resources, technical infrastructure, and business opportunities.

While an entrepreneur is usually required to have the necessary passion and drive to turn his/her business idea into reality, other factors like funding, guidance, product development infrastructure and connections can play an important role in making the process easier.

GO-DELHI Foundation to Support Over 21,000 Startups

The GO-DELHI Foundation will be a platform that will not only enhance Delhi's startup ecosystem but will also enable the new businesses to get access to essential resources. The ₹50 crore funding for the initiative is expected to help entrepreneurs in product development and business sustenance.

It will also help students, researches and MSMEs benefit from the opportunity to make their innovative ideas into something that can be brought to the market.

Startup Fundraising and Mentorship to Help Young Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurship doesn't stop at founding the business. Running and developing a venture can be equally difficult due to limited fundraising opportunities, lack of industry connections and mentoring.

Through this program, entrepreneurs can expect to receive better chances of fundraising and mentorship that would help them develop business models and refine their ideas and connect with potential investors and industry contacts.

Innovation Labs and Product Engineering Facilities

As part of the project, there are also supposed to be innovation labs and product engineering and testing facilities. This equipment could be useful for those developing new technologies and products.

Development of a product prototype, testing and preparation for the market need the proper infrastructure and knowledge. Innovation labs and product engineering facilities would help entrepreneurs refine their products.

Opportunities for MSMEs and Researchers

Through incorporation of MSMEs and researchers and students, the idea is to promote greater ties between education, research and industry which in turn may help in making research results applicable in practical terms while helping the companies to solve their problems.

The industry ties would also help in providing new avenues for creation of products, commercialization of them and even generating employment.

Improvement in Startup Ecosystem and Employment Generation in Delhi

A healthy startup ecosystem helps in the economic growth through creation of new businesses and innovation as well as employment creation.

But the success of this project depends largely on how effectively the proposed facilities and support mechanisms are made available to the entrepreneurs. Approval of this initiative is indeed a big move towards promotion of entrepreneurship in Delhi.
