85kg cow jumps off roof in Kolkata, lands on a man below

The calf had allegedly been kept captive on the roof of a four-storey building The cow died after the fall

One moment Abdul Mannan was haggling for vegetable prices on the pavement in south Kolkata's Tiljala area, when he later came to, he found himself in the hospital with multiple injuries on his head, leg and ribs.

A cow, weighing 85kgs had been tied up on the roof and had become restless. The animal was feeling cooped up on the roof and managed to tear off the rope that was tying it down. In a frenzied state the animal jumped off the roof landing on Mannan below. While Mannan lay there in a pool of blood, the nervous cow died. Passersby got Mannan to the hospital immediately.

The cow had allegedly been kept captive on the roof of a four-storey building by one of the tenants. Building residents say that the cow had been smuggled onto the roof and was being even fed there.
