Bengaluru: A day after Mindtree employee was hit by coronavirus, now Googe has said that one of its employees in Bengaluru has tested positive for deadly virus.
Following this, employees from the particular office have been asked to work from home and not to come to the office until further communication.
“We can confirm that an employee from our Bengaluru office has been diagnosed with COVID-19. The employee was in one of our Bengaluru offices for a few hours before developing any symptom,” a company spokesperson said in a statement.
The firm further added that those who were in close contact with the employee have been asked to quarantine themselves.
In an internal email, accessed by TechCrunch, Anand Rangarajan, director of engineering at Google, said the infected “Googler contracted the virus after travelling overseas”.
With the growing number of coronavirus positive cases and deaths by the day, many top companies have asked their employees to work from home and asked them to take precautionary measures.
In India, so far, 73 COVID-19 cases have been detected.
