A person attempted to throw a liquid at Arvind Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister of Delhi and the National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), during his padyatra in the Greater Kailash area of Delhi on Thursday. As part of his drive to increase his party's visibility and establish a connection with local voters, Kejriwal was interacting with the people when the event happened.
While Kejriwal was strolling around the neighborhood, the unidentified accused attempted to carry out the attack. However, the former Delhi Chief Minister's security detail's prompt action foiled his effort. They acted swiftly to protect Kejriwal by stopping the liquid from getting to him.
The security guards quickly brought the man down and turned him over to the police for additional interrogation. Investigators are looking into the attack's motivation. Even though there were no reported injuries, the event has sparked worries about political leaders' safety when running for office.
This attempted attack underscores the difficulties political leaders have in ensuring security while dealing with constituents and coincides with Kejriwal's ongoing attempts to engage the people ahead of the approaching elections.
Arvind Kejriwal has been the victim of attacks before. The AAP leader was assaulted with ink in 2016 while visiting Bikaner, Rajasthan, when he had gone to a gathering to offer condolences to a local AAP leader. Several similar assaults have been directed upon Kejriwal since his 2013 political debut.
