Bihar: In a major boost to BJP in Bihar, PM Modi's pet project Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, a flagship public health insurance/assurance scheme, is being jointly implemented and the state counterparts have covered 51 lakh beneficiaries.
Under the scheme, the beneficiary can avail health checkups to major operations free of cost at empanelled hospitals.
According to Dr Indu Bhushan, CEO, AB-PMJAY and National Health Authority, Bihar team has done well and has been able to achieve a milestone of over 50 lakh e-cards issued to the beneficiaries.
"Bihar has a long way to go in terms of health outcomes, given its unique challenges of health infrastructure and socio-economic development. This is an encouraging indicator of the potential of the state to ensure timely access to healthcare to the poor," he said and added, currently, 800 hospitals including 230 private hospitals are empanelled under the scheme in the state.
So far, 1,70,281 cases of hospital admissions worth Rs 169 crore have been authorised under the scheme in the state and empanelled hospitals will encourage patients with AB PM-JAY e-cards.
This development will surely come in handy for the BJP that is aiming to woo the voters as the state will face elections in the next eight months.
