Bengal sculptor creates wax statue of Soumitra Chatterjee

A sculptor from Asansol in West Bengal created a wax statue of late actor Soumitra Chatterjee as a tribute at his museum. A few months ago, he made a wax statue of Sushant Singh Rajput.
 


Sculptor Sukanto Roy has built a museum in his home in West Bengal’s Asansol. He is making one wax statue after another and placing it in the local Vidyasagar Art Gallery. 

A few months ago, he made a wax statue of Sushant Singh Rajput. This time, he made a wax statue of Soumitra Chatterjee. The statue was completed and opened to the public on December 19. Minister of State Malay Ghatak came to unveil the statue.

Sukanto Roy, the sculptor, said he admired Soumitra Chatterjee and has made the statue in memory of the actor. 

Roy has also created the wax statue of other famous personalities including actor Amitabh Bachchan and Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli at his museum.

Minister Malay Ghatak said Sukanto Roy is one of the finest sculptors of India. His artwork has been repeatedly praised at home and abroad.

According to the artist, he had been planning to build a statue of Soumitra Chatterjee for five years. The sculptor started working on the wax statue soon after Soumitra Chatterjee died. The statue of Soumitra Chatterjee was built in just 45 days.

People were seen visiting the museum and taking pictures with the wax statue.
