As Bengaluru readies to bounce back, these 18 wards will remain shut

Synopsis

The BBMP has released a list in which 18 wards in Bengaluru will likely witness extension of a total shutdown as coronavirus cases have been reported in the region

The most populated region in Karnataka and also a COVID-19 hotspot, Bengaluru, will also see relaxations in lockdown restrictions and life in the city may seem normal, but with new standard operating procedures in place.

However, about 18 wards in Bengaluru will still remain under lockdown as they have reported COVID-19 cases.

Leading the list is the infamous Padarayanpura that has 57 cases. Other wards with cases are Hongasandra with 38 cases, Shivajinagar with 30 cases, KR Market with 7 cases. Hagadur ward in Mahadevpura zone has 6 cases, Hampinagar has 4 cases, while Mangammanapalya has 3 cases. Vasanth Nagar ward next to COVID -19 hotspot Shivajinagar, has reported 2 cases. Byrasandra, Yeshwanthpur, Deepanjalinagar, Bilekahalli, Begur, BTM Layout, Malleshwaram, HBR, Aerohalli have reported one case each.

The city that awaits to return to its bustling self, will, however, see major restrictions. From boarding a bus, taxi or car to entering the office to shopping, people will have to wear masks and sanitise hands.

In the bus stand, if passengers show signs like fever, or cough during screening, they will not be allowed and be subjected to further tests.
