The Tirap Deputy Commissioner would hand over a cheque of Rs 20 lakh to Dada's wife tomorrow while the remaining Rs 10 lakh will be paid separately.

A memorial for Dada would be erected at his native place. "Late Havildar Hangpan Dada was a hero of Arunachal Pradesh, an inspiring soldier and a legend. Hangpan Dada, had always led from the front," Chief Minister Pema Khandu wrote in a letter to Chasen Lowang Dada, wife of Hangpan Dada.

"All Arunachalees are proud of the son of the soil Dada, who has been awarded 'Ashok Chakra', the country's highest peacetime gallantry award. We salute him and remember his courage, discipline and supreme sacrifice for our country," he said.

Khandu also assured Chasen that her family would provide support and help whenever required.
