‘Are all poha eaters Bangladeshis?’ Netizens troll BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya

Synopsis

BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya in a public meeting in support of CAA said that strange eating habits of workers aroused suspicion about their nationality.

BJP's Kailash Vijayvargiya made a controversial statement during a public meeting in support of CAA. He said, "Construction labourers who worked at my house could be Bangladeshis because their eating habits are strange; they ate only 'poha'."

Later on, he said he became suspicious after the workers stopped working at his house. “I have not filed any police complaint yet. I only mentioned this incident to warn people,” he said.

He added that a Bangladeshi terrorist was keeping a watch on him for the last year and a half.

“Whenever I go out, six-armed security personnel follow me. What is happening in this country? Will outsiders enter and spread so much terror?” he asked.

After his statement, Twitter erupted with responses trolling the minister for judging the labourer's ethnicity based on eating habits. Some netizens also pointed out that how poha is a staple and cheap food and daily wage workers eat it because it is the one which they can afford.

Some also questioned him asking, “Will all those who eat poha become Bangladeshis?” A user with laughing emoji, wrote, "I am Punjabi, and I am eating poha right now. Poha has nothing to do with Bangladesh."

Another user wrote, "So, According to BJP,  those who eat Poha are Bangladeshis???🤔 What next?? Boycott Poha?? 😂🤣😂🤣
