Any Indian can now buy land in J&K

Synopsis

 As per the notification, no domicile or permanent resident certificate is required for purchasing non-agricultural land in Jammu and Kashmir. 

Any Indian citizen can now buy land in Jammu & Kashmir. 

The Union Home Ministry today notified the UT of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Adaptation of Central Laws) Third Order, 2020. 

As per the notification, no domicile or permanent resident certificate is required for purchasing non-agricultural land in Jammu and Kashmir. 

However, agricultural land can only be purchased by agriculturalists or people engaged in farm-related activities.

A notification also says the government may on written request of an Army officer not below the rank of Corp Commander declare an area as Strategic Area within a local area.
