
Vijayawada: A goods train travelling between Surareddy Palen and Tangutur line at Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, derailed and five oil tankers of the train rolled down into a canal in the wee hours of Thursday (June 25). The train compartments immediately caught fire and massive smoke engulfed the surroundings. Panicked at the sight, residents alerted the fire brigade. Bitragunta and Vijayawada emergency operation crew rushed to the spot and struggled to douse the fire. The rescue operation took place all night and the personnel fished out four oil containers. According to reports, the clearance of the oil spilt and resuming of the railway track will be announced by the authorities once the way is cleared.
