The total number of COVID-19 cases in Karnataka surged to 1032 after 45 new cases were confirmed in Karnataka in the last 24 hours. Out of the total cases in the state, 476 have so far recovered and have been discharged, while 35 have died, the state health department said on Friday.
Bengaluru: The total number of COVID-19 cases in Karnataka breached the 1,000 mark, with 45 people testing positive, the state health department said on Friday. Total number of positive cases in the state stood at 1,032.
With 35 deaths and 476 discharges, there were 520 active coronavirus cases, the department said in its mid-day situation update.
The 45 new cases include 16 from Dakshina Kannada, 13 from Bengaluru Urban, 5 from Udupi, 3 each from Bidar and Hassan, 2 from Chitradurga, and 1 each from Kolar, Shivamogga and Bagalkot districts.
A three-year-old is among the six minors infected by the virus.
20 of them are with travel history to Dubai, 4 to Mumbai and 3 returned from Chennai. One patient has a history of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) and another was from a containment zone in Bidar.
Rest are all primary and secondary contacts of patients who already tested positive, the bulletin said.
Medical education minister Dr K Sudhakar said that there is no community transmission as yet.
