40 children aged between 3-17 test positive for Covid-19 in Andhra Pradesh

According to reports, at least 40 children in the age group of 3-17 tested positive for novel coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh. These children are among the 475 active cases in the state.

The children, who tested positive, contracted the disease from family members, who attended the Tablighi Jamaat meeting in Delhi’s Nizamuddin in March. Meanwhile, in Hyderabad, 25 children have tested positive for the virus and are recovering at the Telangana capital’s Gandhi Hospital.

The state government has decided to double the COVID-19 testing capacity to 4,000 tests per day using TrueNat TB testing equipment. The state has also decided to extend financial assistance of Rs 2,000 to poor families, who are returning home from quarantine centres.

31 new coronavirus cases were reported as of 5 pm on April 16 in Andhra Pradesh, according to data released by the ministry of health and family welfare. This brings the total number of reported cases of coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh to 534. Among the total people infected as on date, 20 have recovered and 14 have passed away.
