2nd PU exams: 4993 students to miss out due to attendance shortage

Synopsis

As 2nd PUC exam begins today, over 6 lakh students will be tested. Out of these, 4993 students will not be allowed to write exams for failing to achieve 75% attendance.

Exams for 2nd-year pre-university began today across Karnataka. Around 6,80,498 students will test their luck. Shockingly 4,993 students will miss writing exams due to shortage of attendance.

According to the PU board, the relaxation on attendance is only 25% but many students have fallen short of achieving 75% attendance during the academic year.

Out of 6,80,498 students appearing for exams, 5,61,530 are fresh entrants and the rest are repeaters.

To ensure there is no malpractice, the education department has taken measures like installation on CCTVs, appointment of supervisors apart from deploying flying squads.

The department has ordered the closure of xerox shops during examinations.
