25-Year-Old Falls Into Boiling Jaggery While Working At Plant, Dies After Suffering Severe Burns

A 25-year-old from Lakhimpur died after falling into a boiling jaggery pan in Maharashtra. He was trapped for nearly a minute and cried for help.

A 25-year-old youth from Lakhimpur died after falling into a pan of boiling jaggery at a plant in Maharashtra. The incident occurred on August 21, and a video surfaced on Sunday.

The victim, Danish, a resident of Moodi village in Isanagar, Lakhimpur, had been married for two years. He had gone to Maharashtra about four months ago with 15 others to work and repay a family debt of ₹70,000.

Workers pulled him out after he remained trapped for nearly a minute

On August 21 at 2:25 PM, Danish was standing at the edge of a cauldron where jaggery was boiling. He felt dizzy, lost his balance, and fell into the boiling jaggery. He screamed for help, crying, "Save me, brother, save me."

Hearing his cries, colleagues rushed to help. Workers tried to pull him out with ladles but struggled. Two or three workers eventually stepped forward and pulled him out. The skin on his entire body had peeled off. Water was poured on him to ease the burning.

He was taken to a hospital but died during treatment.

After the accident, Maharashtra Police conducted a post-mortem and sent the body to Moodi village. When the body arrived on Saturday, family members created a ruckus, accusing the workers who had gone with Danish. Police showed them CCTV footage from the plant, and the family calmed down.

CO Shamsher Bahadur Singh said no written complaint had been received.

Danish is survived by his wife, two-month-old son, parents, and elder brother and sister. His elder brother Guddu had a debt of ₹70,000, which Danish had gone to Maharashtra to repay.
