Exclusive: CID Forest Cell arrests 2, seizes blackbuck skin, horns and pangolin scales

Karnataka CID Forest Cell sleuths arrested two persons who were in possession of and, attempting to sell blackbuck skin, horns and pangolin scales.  The main accused in the alleged trade, Shivamani, from Andhra Pradesh is absconding and officials have taken the duo who were arrested for further investigation. 

Bengaluru: Wildlife in Karnataka has been in a state of crisis with poachers who plunder forests and rob it off its lives to conduct illegal trade. The arrest of two people who were attempting to sell blackbuck skin, horns and pangolin scales stands as evidence to this fact.

According to the CID Forest Cell, 36-year-old Ramesh, and 31-year-old Narasimha Murthy both from Challakere in Chitradurga were caught last night at a lodge.

"We posed as buyers and took the accused into confidence. When the accused brought the banned items in a gunny bag, they were arrested. The main accused Shivamani from Andhra Pradesh is absconding." said a senior CID Forest Cell officer.

The officers seized the blackbuck skin, horns and pangolin scales weighing nearly 3kg.
