Almost everybody uses WhatsApp on their PCs and laptops. On Thursday, the messaging app platform announced an additional security layer so that the user will be able to link their accounts on mobile phones to computers.

How to do it?From now on to link WhatsApp Web or Desktop to your account, you will be asked to use your face or fingerprint as proof id to unlock on your phone, and then you have to scan the QR-code from the phone to link your device.

The company said, "We're putting even more security into WhatsApp Web and desktop, adding an additional layer of protection when you want to link your WhatsApp account to your computer."

WhatsApp will be rolling out its new update soon along with a redesign of WhatsApp Web page on phones to users with compatible devices.

This update will ensure your colleagues or classmates cannot link devices to your computers without your permission. The company further added, "This builds on our existing security measures today, which pop up a notice in your phone whenever a WebDesktop login occurs, and the ability to unlink devices from your phone at any time."
