Twitter upgraded its blue tick verification process; here's what is the eligibility criteria

Twitter started to roll out blue tick verification plans and reviewing public applications. Know how you can apply and its eligibility criteria, and more.

The company said to the media, "Over the last several months, we've been working to bring clarity to the verification eligibility criteria and launched a new policy shaped by public feedback. We also started enforcing that policy shaped by automatically removing the verified badge from the accounts that no longer meet the updated criteria for verification, such as those inactive or incomplete. We're grateful for all who participated in our public feedback period and shared ideas for how we can improve verification on Twitter."

Twitter believes that the new policy of the blue tick mechanism will bring more transparency and credibility to their verification. With the blue badge, an account gets its authenticity. It gives people more background about them whether they are trustworthy or not. Research has shown it has been healthier and safer.

Twitter has also added new guidelines for verified accounts and said those who will go against the rules of Twitter; the company has to remove the blue badge immediately. This is for making a better space. People follow verified accounts to follow their tweets, and so the violation won't be tolerated as mentioned by the company.

How to apply?Twitter will gradually roll out verification applications to all users, and people can apply directly on the Account Settings Menu.

How will you know it has been done?After applying, you will get an email response from Twitter after a few days or weeks, depending on the queue. After your account gets approved, the blue badge will be visible automatically. But if it gets rejected, you can reapply after 30 days.

Twitter has even mentioned that they might expand the categories to scientists, academics and religious leaders under eligibility criteria.
