While Serbia's Novak Djokovic is the defending champion, there are some other contenders, despite the tournament lacking a couple of top stars. Nevertheless, despite all of it, we rank the five contenders for the men's title.

Novak DjokovicStarting with the obvious, the defending champ is once again the outright favourite to clinch it again. Furthermore, the lack of Spain's Rafael Nadal and Austria's Dominic Thiem is likely to boost his chances. However, it still won't be as other top stars are waiting to challenge him, including record eight-time champion Roger Federer of Switzerland and Germany's Alexander Zverev. But, winning the title would allow him to match Federer and Nadal's all-time record of 20 Slams.

Stefanos TsitsipasThe fourth-ranked Greek is coming off a prolific outing in the French Open, finishing as the runner-up. Meanwhile, Djokovic has already rated him as a future Slam winner and it could come as early as Wimbledon this year. Although he is yet to make it past the pre-quarters of the tournament, he has a strong chance of clinching the title this term.

Daniil MedvedevThe Russian is currently ranked second globally and has been tipped as one of the upcoming top stars in the game. While he is yet to win a Slam, it could all begin from Wimbledon. Medvedev has already ended as runner-up in a couple of Slams. While he has failed to progress beyond the third round at this Slam, he is being tipped to better it and it should not be a surprise if he takes it all the way.

Alexander ZverevThe sixth-ranked German is undoubtedly one of the top and promising stars. However, he has been unfortunate not to win a Slam to date. Having finished as the runner-up on occasion during the US Open 2020, it would be interesting to see how far he travels this term at Wimbledon, failing to make it beyond pre-quarters. Nonetheless, he is a future Slam winner too, and he could make the cut at Wimbledon.

Roger FedererLast but not least, it would be futile to rule out the record champ. Let's admit it, Federer is not in the best of his shapes currently and has struggled considerably since his comeback from knee surgery. However, he was going good during the French Open, making it to the pre-quarters before pulling out to focus on grass, while he is expected to give his all at this event. Although he can still make it to the final, it would be an uphill battle to win it. A win would extend his record Slam feat to 21, but a loss could mean the end of his illustrious career.NOTE: Asianet News humbly requests everyone to wear masks, sanitise, maintain social distancing and get vaccinated as soon as eligible.
